As society evolves, today’s children and youth face increasingly complex challenges, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to academic pressure, they may also struggle with emotional distress, social problems, bullying, and various temptations, making their physical and mental health a pressing concern. To equip the younger generation early on, there is a need to provide preventive education from a young age.

Since its inception, Life Education Activity Programme (LEAP) is dedicated to providing positive and systematic health and preventive education programmes for students in kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, and special needs schools. These programmes aim to help students grasp the knowledge and skills required for a healthy lifestyle from an early age, build problem-solving skills in their daily lives, and cultivate positive values and attitudes. This approach fosters confidence in making safer and wiser choices.

The LEAP programmes are supported and recognized by the Education Bureau, the Narcotics Division of the Security Bureau, and the Tobacco and Alcohol Control Office of the Department of Health. To address students’ needs, we have segmented the content into three major areas: physical health, social and emotional health, and personal safety. These areas are designed to help students develop a deeper understanding of their physical and mental health, strengthen their connections with others, and instill a focus on personal safety, all to achieve the comprehensive goal of holistic well-being.

LEAP Classroom

LEAP’s Primary Programme is taken to schools in mobile classrooms, also known as Life Education Centres (LEC). The mobile classrooms can be towed all over Hong Kong to deliver LEAP’s health-based preventive education programmes to primary students. LEAP now has a total of 9 mobile classrooms and a static centre, one mobile classroom is dedicated to the English Programme, seven to the Chinese Primary Programme, and one to the Special Needs Programme. The Static Centre at Lai Yiu Estate, Kwai Chung enables schools that cannot accommodate a mobile classroom to participate in the LEAP Programmes away from their premises.

Teaching Technologies

LEAP’s entire fleet is now fully equipped with Augmented Reality (AR) and Kinect teaching technologies to provide an exceptional learning experience combining technology, fun and knowledge for students, including those with special needs. Its aim is to enhance students’ learning interest and to strengthen their understanding of the subject matter.

Teaching Equipment

Each LEC is equipped with advanced technology including audiovisual aids, illuminated body systems, a “talking brain” and TAM (Transparent Anatomical Mannequin).

TAM tells students how the body works. With the help of a magic wand, TAM can surprise the class by lighting up her body parts

The Body System Modules illustrate the digestive system, the circulatory system and the nervous system in a dynamic way.

Harold the Giraffe

Harold the Giraffe, who talk and sing, reinforcing the health messages communicated to the children.

Hands-on Activities

Colourful teaching aids are designed to ensure that health messages are clearly conveyed, and to facilitate maximum student participation.
