LEAP Forum 2024 - Life Education in a New Era

LEAP is deeply concerned by the recent rise in student suicides in Hong Kong, particularly among younger students. With the significant milestone of the 30th anniversary of LEAP, we are steadfast in continuing our mission. We have specially organised the forum titles “Life Education in a New Era - Equipping Children and Youth with Skills for Life through Social and Emotional Learning”. We have invited Emeritus Professor Helen Cahill from the Faculty of Education at the University of Melbourne, Professor Paul S.F. Yip, the Director of the HKJC Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention at the University of Hong Kong and Dr Kwok Lai Yuk Ching Sylvia, Professor of Department of Social and Behavioural Sciences at City University of Hong Kong to discuss how to promote social and emotional skills learning among children and adolescents. And the forum will address the critical importance of social-emotional learning for this demographic and will examine the roles played by families and schools in this process. It will include a practical workshop for teachers, focusing on effective strategies for advancing social and emotional learning for both students and educators well-being.
